Just wondering if I can make a stew with beef that has already been cooked from our beef joint today? If so what's the best way to do it?

Thanks

I think I would make a veg stew with beef stock and add the beef about half way through to heat it through and maybe tenderise it?

yesyou can.

I'd cook some onions and maybe other veg like mushrooms (in butter or oil), add a few tablespoons of flour, mix in, add stock or whatever liquid you want the pie to be based around, throw in the chopped up cooked meat, and make the pie.

why did I think you wanted to make a pie?!?

Sorry.

You don't really want to cook the meat for any longer or it might go tough, just make a sauce/gravy type thing and add the meat to heat through.

overmydeadbody you are like my DH! His answer to any question is "ooh yes a pie"

bumpersluscious yes I always make a stew with leftover meat or a curry - roasted chicken is lush curried for some reason.

Thanks for the replies. I was going to make curry but we always have it an am a little bored with it!

TBH if I wasn't healthy eating I'd love a good pie!

So, you'd say not to cook the meat too long.

Any other tuips on what to do with the meat?

I would make a nice oniony gravy with loads of sliced onions gently sauteed until tender, then slice up the meat, put it in an ovenproof dish, pour the onion gravy on top, heat it up in the oven and serve it with mash and green beans and carrots.

Yum.
