How much juice is too much for a 2yo?

I suspect we give DS (just turned 2) too much juice, by which I mean watered down apple juice if we're at home or full on apple juice if we're out and about eg M&S kids meal comes with a carton of juice.

He's at nursery four days a week so we're only talking three days a week but most of his drinks will be milk or juice, we rarely think to offer him water.

In fact having written this down makes me CERTAIN we're doing this wrong so anyway what would be a good amount? Half the drinks water and then one juice and two milk? I really am clueless on this one!!

I worry about DS's teeth if he has too much juice. He has water at home and nursery school and childminder. My mum gives him apple juice and he has uice when we're out. So proabably a couple of big cups aof juice at my mums on one day and may a smallish carton over the weekend.

I don't think there's any guidleine but my dentist definitely discourages it.

i tend to offer water all the time and juice only with dinner in the evening.

DS1 used to be the same then I stopped buying apple juice as part of an economy drive (we were gettin through 4 cartons a week!) and now he only drinks milk or water (has carton of juice with kids meal when out still).
He got used to it really quickly, no fuss at all and stopped asking for juice after a day or two.
Much cheaper and I feel better about his teeth now too!

DS2 drinks more if he has apple juice

I think the guidelines say its best to stick to juice with meals, also juice through a straw is supposed to be better for teeth.
However my dd only ever drank juice except for morning milk, ds will have water but only if I say its bottled.

Thanks I'll try and stick to it just for meals. I'm worried about his teeth too and about just sugaring him up too much - even if it is fruit sugars.

Dd has one carton of innocent smoothie a day, and drinks water or milk the rest of the time. I wouldn't want her to have any more than that.

offer a cup of water first and then top up with diluted juice or milk at tea time
