Can someone please tell me the correct way to deal with ds2's sudden fussiness with food - I already have one fussy eater I don't want another!!

I know that ds2 is teething and he is a bit poorly at the moment so I guess he doesn't fancy too much to eat.

All he wants to eat though is bready things - toast, cheese on toast, dried fruit bars, fresh fruit, yoghurts and biscuits are his favs. He used to eat all kinds of veg and pasta but for the past couple of weeks these seem to be a no no.

I have just made him cheesy savoury pancake for lunch - he's eaten a very little bit so I gave him some sliced apple as pudding which he's again eaten a little of. I know this isn't enough for him.

I guess the best way to deal with it is to keep giving him these things and then just to take away and give pudding - normally fruit and yoghurt as normal and not to make too big a deal from it???

I really need some tips as his big brother is an unbelievably picky eater and I don't want another one.

He's just turned 1 btw.

My advice is to carry on offering the things you want him to eat and, as you say, don't make a deal at all about the fact that anything is left. I have a fussy no 1 child and am using this tactic myself. I have found so far that these things are phases.

Another thing, when I have been sure dd2 is very hungry I have phased the way the food comes out, so a 'starter' of some veggies then the 'main course' of the easy things plus maybe another veg on the side. Keep offering and don't give further attention for poor eating.

dont ever ask them what they would like to eat. just put it on the table say nothing. choice is a confusing thing for a child it worked for mine

I think 1 is a bit young to be turning into a fussy eater tbh. He's only been eating food for a short while.

I'd just go with the flow for a bit and don't make an issue of it.

(I do sympathise though, my 5 yr old ds is a fussy eater too)
