Goerge Foreman grill advice please!!!

We've moved house and I've come across a George Foreman grill from my husband's single days. It's a bit grim and there are no sign of the instructions so any tips as to what's good to cook on it would be much appreciated! It's largish and has a red bun warmer if this is any help! Also, can the plates be removed and go into the dishwasher?

I always find steaks, pork chops, chicken breasts and burgers cook well. Haven't had much luck with veg. I've also made toasted sandwiches on mine.

The plates don't come off, but I clean mine with Fairy power spray and it comes up fine, just make sure it cools down first.

Oh and do you have the trays to collect the dripping fat?

Hope that helps

It does, thank you. I think I may have thrown away the fat tray without realising what it was. I didn't even realise we had the grill! Have you tried sausages? I suspect I'll be go off them for life when I see how much fat come out of them!

Lol, no haven't tried sausages, can imagine they'd roll off! It's amazing how much fat comes out of things!

I've tried sausages and they taste quite different - must be the fat that makes them tasty I think!! Bacon and burgers, chops etc all come out well. It is sometimes quite gross looking at what is left in the fat tray!

The later models have plates you can remove and put in the dishwasher, although tbh they don't always wash that well.

It's a bit of a faff doing sausages to be honest, you spend ages turning them & making sure they don't fall off. The only benefit is more fat seems to come out than grilling.

I use it for toasties, pitta bread toasties, paninis are great. Doesn't seal toasties like a proper maker so be prepared for a cheesy mess. if you didn't put cheese in then get rid

Burgers, chicken etc good, just make sure you oil your meat first.

Also the sausages tend to go a bit squashed and don't brown evenly!

Steaks cook really well on there - as do burgers, but they need to be quite thick or only the bottom gets cooked - but mine is an older model.

agree on the paninis etc - great for that.

It's also easy to clean than a big grill pan

Can you use bloomer type bread for toasted sandwiches in them, or does it have to be paninis?
