which joint of beef is it? rib, topside, silverside?

poopscoop · 25/01/2009 11:32

i put mustard over mine before it goes in the oven, and also let it stand wrapped in foil for quite a while after, then it should be really tender.

Cant say how long to cook it as difficult to say without knowing the type of joint or size.

bugger, i have never cookede brisket myself, but isnt it one which is long and slow to cook? Then wrap in foil and stand for an hour after. So if you time it that it comes out of oven at 4, it should be really yummy by 5. The mustard can just be kthinly put on with a pastry brush, i just gives the meat more flavour without being really mustardy, so your H may not even notice

sorry cannot be of further help. Someone may be along shortly with some advice.

I'd say 90 minutes on a low heat then a further 30 minutes. Then i'd stick a knife in it to see if any blood comes form it.

I'd then let it rest covered in foil for a further 15 minutes

Brisket is a cheaper cut of meat that requires very slow cooking on a very low heat.

Enjoy

brisket is a very tasty meat and is slightly cheaper than other cuts. BUT, if it is cooked correctly it is a really nice joint.
