Can you buy something to make hob flames bigger?

My oven has a large gas ring (wok burner) but it's still not big enough to reach even close to the edges of my largest pans. Can you buy something to make the flames spread further, or do you just have to keep moving the food about in big pans? I found something called, I think, a diffuser in the cupboard but the packaging is in German and I have no idea what it says! Would this help?

I have never had a problem putting big pans on small rings - it just cooks slower, doesn't it?

Maybe you just have some mahooosive pans!

Sorry, not much help

It doesn't just cook slower, Tilly, it cooks unevenly. The stuff in the middle cooks and the stuff on the outside stays virtually cold. And yes I'm talking about really big pans, like a paella pan.

During the war, people hadcast iron triangles that fit around each burner and dispersed the heat - if you can find one of those, it would help.

Hi Tinkjon, Lakeland sell diffusers: ((www.lakeland.co.uk/heat-diffuser/F/keyword/hob/product/6280_10426/pgs/35)).

I haven't tried them myself but they sound effective.
