I have 13 adults and 4 toddlers and we are abroad and I'd like to put on a proper British tea. Thing is, I am short of time but could make an item or so a night if things will store well. Any ideas gretly appreciated! thanks

difficult to know what's available abroad, but my children's party teas are always always as follows:

little sandwiches - cream cheese on wholemeal & ham on white
cocktail sausages
child-friendly crisps, e.g PomBears
plate of cut up fruit and cucumber etc. as concession to health
chocolate finger biscuits
fairy cakes
scones for grown ups

fairy cakes and scones can be prepared whenever you like and frozen (cakes uniced), also you could safely ice the cakes 24 hours ahead and keep in an airtight box

sausages could be cooked probably 48 hours ahead and kept covered in the fridge. Or make & freeze sausage rolls.

Or do you want things like crumpets to be terribly British?

Thank you very much that helps a lot.

someone suggested cooked chicken, salad and new pots on my thread earlier if that helps. You could cook the chicken the day before & it'll keep in the fridge
