We bought a gazillion bananas for £1 at the market on Saturday. So far I have made/plan to make:
Banana Creme Caramels
Chocolate and Banana Cake
Banana and Walnut Loaf
Banana Ice-cream

There will still be at least 15 of the damn things left so ideas and recipes please.
Thanks

Baked bananas are nice!

Oh yes, and my daughter made this at school which was surprisingly nice.

Ready made puff pastry

Roll out and using a saucer or small plate cut out circles.
Brush with a bit of jam (apricot I think?).
Slice bananas (and or any other fruit) and arrange on top of jam.
Put in oven until pastry is puffy.
She then glazed them with warmed jam, but not much!

Serve with cream or ice cream.

That sounds yummy and easy! Will try it tomorrow.

Anyone else?

I like banana on toast with a little honey - yummy for breakfast.
Banana muffins maybe
Banana milkshake

Oh yes, my DC love banana choc milkshakes - blend 1 banana + 1 tsp hot choc powder and cup of milk per person.

What are banana creme caramels? They sound like a yummy new type of Cadburys creme egg...

I stick them in creamy, korma type curries. Just slice them up and stick them in 5 minutes before you're ready to serve.

Smoothies? Banana, strawberries, a bit of plain yoghurt and OJ to thin down. You could use frozen berries too.
Or there is a really yummy recipe in the Innocent book for banana and peanut butter milkshake...can't quite remember it but basically banana, peanut butter and milk...with perhaps some honey for sweetness.

Thanks all.

bigTillyMint - the banana creme caramels were from a recipe I'd had for AGES. Ordinary creme caramel but with mashed banana and cardamon in. Tried it on Monday, I loved it, DH and DC turned up their noses, DD actually said it tasted like chicken (it was sweet!)
Will try the milkshakes as it should disguise fruit for DS (who thinks it is the food of the Devil )

Back to bananas on toast and a freezer full of banana cake/bread - its a hard life

use a wrap that you make fajhits or sandwiches with.

spread one half with chocolate spread

slice the babana onto it

then bake in the oven for about 10mins then serve with ice cream... very yummy...

you banana and choc cake sounds really nice...

Banoffee is lovely and really handy to make. I usually boil up about 4 tins of condensed milk at a time and keep them in the cupboard for whenever I take the notion to make a banoffe. (boil them for about 3 hours - they will keep for ages). Make a base of 6oz crushed digestive biscuits mixed with 2.5 oz of butter. Put into greased and lined tin. Cut up about 3 bananas and put on top of the base and then open one of your tins of boiled condensed milk and spread the whole tin on top of the bananas. Leave in the fridge for a few hours. So much cheaper than the bought ones and tastes delicious.
