That's not a bad price, but they're very heavy. I have a Le Creuset milk pan, which I love, as well as the casserole, but I wouldn't use any bigger pans, and a cast iron frying pan would be a PITA. I like high quality stainless steel, but think some people swear by Anolon.

2ndset

i do have a new cast iron griddle pan and although heavy i do love it.
but i would like to get a very good frying pan, and a really nice casserole dish

are you suppose to wash this in a special way? th cast iorn griddle pan i have i put in the dishwasher, but i'm not sure i'm ment to

I'd just rinse and brush a griddle pan in clean water. My favourite frying pan is a carbon-steel skillet, needs seasoning and careful washing, but is lovely. Le Creuset casseroles are great.

oh yes i'd love to serve up beef stew with tomatos and dumplings in one of those.

do you actually think it cooks it better too, or just looks good?
i do think the griddle cooks better but i couldn't explain why i think that.

A decent cast iron casserole is a great investment. I use mine for everything. Can't afford Le Creuset so I bought one from Ikea Favorit Casserole. It's brilliant.

I recently tried to order from Debenhams..on 3 different orders for different items (saucepans set included). They accept the order but it took them 10 days to tell me they could not provide any of my order as it was all out of stock ...... Ths was sale item stuff so assume demand was high...Got a pathetic letter saying they have no stock left and stock control is not "live". Jsut though I woud share that with you. As my saucepan set could not be deliverd i wen tout and purchased a set of "Judge Vista" ones with a 25 year Guarantee and they are far better than the ones i was gonna buy from Debenhams....They are jsut the bees knees ..link her i hope www.cookware-online.co.uk/shop/pots-and-pans/cookware-sets/judge-vista-6-piece-pan-set-255280.html

Did tell Debenhams I would tell people about their stock control not being up to date..so now feel better for that!!!

Just added my post incase you did purchase from Debenhams. Have to add though I am in agreement with babbibu, they are very heavy if you are say poiling a full pan of potatoes I do find it difficult to lift.

cositjustisok · 11/01/2009 18:44

eh should be "boiling"

Got a set of Stella pans for wedding present - still going strong and over 20 years now and we do lots of cooking - all wash up brill in dishwasher. Have type with short side handles so easier to go in oven / dishwasher etc.

I have a set of Stellar 1000 pans. I bought them in 1998 so they're over ten years old! They're excellent.
