Spinach and Salmon lasagne

I haven't made this in years. Some of my recipes say cook the salmon first. Others don't bother.

Has anyone tried both? Which is best?

I have only done salmon and brocolli lasagne and I have always cooked the salmon first (often use a tin in fact )

RupertTheBear · 11/01/2009 08:39

broccoli sorry

twoluvlykids · 11/01/2009 08:41

sounds interesting. i would suggest cooking it first - you would if it was mince?

the cooking in the oven, imo, is just to cook the lasagne sheets.

Sounds revolting. Does it work? Can imagine salmon and broccoli though.

fwiw, if it's in the oven for, what, 40 minutes, I wouldn't bother cooking the salmon first. It would cook in that time on its own.

The lasagne is precooked so only needs 20 mins. I have cooked the salmon.

Spinach and salmon is a lovely combination IMO.

There's no tomato sauce though, just layers of creamed spinach or spinach mixed with ricotta cheese, bits of salmon and pasta.

sounds yum - when you find/remember the recipe can you post it on here??

I've got lots of recipes mostly in French. I probably will just inspire myself rather than follow word for word. If tonight's meal is any good I will post.

Naturopath, I really enjoyed it but it was a little dry on reheating the leftovers for the next days lunch.

I put a little bechamel sauce at the bottom and then layered lasagne, spinach ricotta mix, flaked cooked salmon, lasagne etc.
On the very top more bechamel and some parmesan.

In the ricotta spinach mix, I used chopped spinach from the freezer + pinch of nutmeg.

I think next time I will put bechamel in every layer rather than just top and bottom so that it is a little more moist.

I've made this with smoked salmon before to use some up that was in the fridge. I was lovely, needs lots of bechemel sauce though as otherwise dry.

Actually I didn't pre cook the lasagne sheets. Maybe I should have done that!
