Thanks

M&S ones usually are edible as opposed to just being something to look at/set fire to. Or if you have access to a Costco theirs are lovely and fresh (though a bit sweet for my taste)

MrsBadger · 05/01/2009 12:19

yes M&S

it's the icing that makes them vile - chocolate are usually better than the fondant character-covered ones

or if you can get away with it buy an un-iced one

Northernlurker · 05/01/2009 12:21

another vote for m&s

Don't buy the M&S hedgehog - that was awful.

M&S or Costco.

dingdongDOZYMAREishigh · 05/01/2009 13:34

or failing that, make your own chocolate cake with icing and order a topper from ebay - our son is star wars mad, and we got a personailised one in less than 48 hours....great

MrsBadger · 05/01/2009 13:40

or just use Lego / playmobil to make (eg) a pirate scene on top

Lauriefairyonthetreeeatscake · 05/01/2009 13:44

echo not to buy the hedgehog M&S one - they changed the recipe last year (as I've always had it for my birthday) and it was vile.

The plain Happy Birthday one is lovely though - think it's sponge.

MadreInglese · 05/01/2009 13:44

Asda sponge cakes are usually nice
