I'm having 6 freinds over tonight. Only decided last night due to one of them surprising us with a visit from Singapore. So, was going to do Nigella's slow roasted garlic & lemon chicken cos its easy and tasty but 2 of them have had it here already.

So, searching for a similar recipe i've found this

www.nigella.com/recipe/recipe_detail.aspx?rid=89

Sounds fab but you're supposed to marinate overnight or up to 2 days!!! If I get the ingredients together by 10.30, do you think it will be ok to put in the oven at 7ish or should I stick to the 1st one.

thanks

I think it'll be fine. That recipe is from a section in her Express book about quick slow cooking, if you get my drift, and the point is you can bung it in the fridge when you've got time and the cook it in the evening - cos Nigella is obviously run off her feet in the mornings

If you leave it out of the fridge to marinate then it should be fine.

ok. fab. It isn't a spectacular dinner party recipe but i'm all for ease and I know they will love it. will get my backside in gear then. Erm, what should I serve it with????

Would have done roasted baby pots and grilled med veg with the lemon chicken but thats not right for this.

heck

As it's presumably something to eat with your fingers, not sure I'd serve it with anything other than a wet wipe!

Why not do a mixed salad as a starter? Then you can use cutlery for that and not feel guilty that you haven't served anything green!

More finger food - corn on the cob, wedges etc?

BalthazarCandleQueen · 05/01/2009 08:52

Nice big salad, and some crusty read. Or homemade potato wedges?

DelGirl · 05/01/2009 08:54

will have a look in sainsburies when I get there. Maybe I should do the lemon chicken instead

Just because they may have eaten it at your house before doesn't preclude you from cooking it again!
If it's easy for you and they'll enjoy it, cook it!

DelGirl · 05/01/2009 08:59

yeah I think I will actually. One of them likes my cooking whatever I do lol as she doesn't cook and the other won't mind hopefully either. I'll save it for another time. thanks though. Unless anyone has any other recipes like that, bung it in and wait????
