Rice pudding for DS

DS had a "Rachel's" rice pudding and loved it so I want to make my own but don't want to add loads of sugar. He is 9 mo. Ha anyone done this for their LO, and if so can you freeze and reheat it?

I used to make rice pud all the time when mine were small. Freezes fine but takes a while to defrost so get it out first thing to have for tea.

I used to, also. Mine won't eat it now so make the most of 'control' over your ds!!!

Freezing worked well, I found, and you don't need loads of sugar. Some recipes suggest nutmeg/ cinnamon as an alternative.

I used to make it when my elder ones were little - I used to buy full fat milk for them and semi-skimmed for us and forever had too much to be used up.

I would always put in a generous handful of raisins into the rice and milk before popping it in the oven.

DS1 loved my rice pudding. It would freeze really well, but sometimes I would have to add a little milk after defrosting.

I quite fancy making that- does anyone have a good recipe?

I used this and ds loved it.

i never used sugar but a teaspoonful of vanilla essence sweetens it. also sometimes used to stir in a spoonful of pureed strawberries/raspberries etc before he ate it. annabel karmel has a recipe but it's got strawberry jam in it - i never used the jam just added a bit of puree after. ds used to eat vast amounts of it as a baby

I used amounts off back of pudding rice packet with minimal sugar and vanilla pod scraped out. I cook it on hob rather than oven stirring most of time to make it really thick and creamy. Add in double cream at end for extra loveliness! Dd (almost 9m) ats loads of this - I freez in in ice cubes as 2 or 3 of these defrost quicker in m icrowave than one bigger pot. I add in frozen cubes of pureed dried apricot, ready-frozen rasps/blueberries/cherries, fresh mashed banana or chopped up pear. Very happy to polish off her leftovers
