Exploding Chestnuts and Ham in Coke plus Plastic Wrapper disaster

A few of the chestnuts I was cooking earlier exploded in the oven - I had no idea they could make so much mess.

And now I have just seen an inner plastic wrapper on the gammon joint which has been simmering away in coke for about half an hour. Will it be safe to eat does anyone know?

Feel free to ignore all past and any future cooking ideas from me. I am obviously rubbish.

gammon will be fine, scoop it out and take it off.

I've just tasted the ham and it's still semi-raw.

I suppose the wrapper slowed down the cooking process. Christmas lunch was a breeze compared to this!

Oh dear

I have exploded jacket potatoes and set fire to sausages but I take my hat off to exploding chestnuts.

Whip the plastic packaging off the ham and start timings from scratch. All will be fine.

I remember one particular 'Domestic Science' lesson at school which involved stuffed tomatoes, several of which exploded in the oven

Not mine though.

Thanks all, I'm on the wine now!

We had exploding chestnuts too!
I heard them but left DH to deal with the mess!
