I have a recipe for microwave lemon curd which you could layer with cream and meringue for a sort of lemon mess (like Eton Mess)?

frenchmumma · 27/12/2008 16:19

hey its not party - we have kids and no one wants to babysit NYE so we have decided to get together, have a little party for the kids, pack them off to bed, then enjoy a lovely dinner - I said I would do dessert!!! Now regretting it, I may pop along to Waitrose

Chocolate Cherry Trifle ala Nigella is out of this world and very impressive

We went to SIL's for lunch on Christmas day and DN's partner made a terrine like this...

Also banoffee pie cooksforcooks.com/dcc2/wk3/tx11/banoffee-pie.aspx

Both were delicious.

There's a tiramisu cake in the Nigella Christmas book that looks gorgeous. I made her pavlova from that book too, which was really nice and looked and tasted very nice indeed. I've made a chocolate tart from one of the Jamie Oliver books that is really easy but delicious and very impressive, too.

White chocolate cheesecake? Don't know a recipe though.

JacksFirstChristmasMama · 27/12/2008 17:32

I have a fantastic cheesecake recipe. I made it with a crust out of Dutch windmill biscuits and with a berry coulis. Do you want the recipe?

This is lovely.
I didn't do the shortbread crust though - I crushed up 2 cups of Spekulaas (Dutch windmill cookies, but graham crackers with some cinnamon would work as well) and added melted butter to make a crust (bake for 10 min at 350F), and for the berry coulis I used 2 cups of mixed frozen berries, added some sugar, water and lemon juice, bring to a boil and then simmer until thick enough. If it refuses to thicken, stir some cornstarch into a Tbsp cool water, then add to the coulis. Allow to cool. Pour over cheesecake.

Excellent and easy

Ronaldinhio · 27/12/2008 19:34

I know this isn't terribly difficult but everyone is impressed by Eton Mess.
Make a Christmas fruits compote to mix into it

JacksFirstChristmasMama · 27/12/2008 19:34

Just want to say the cheesecake, while lengthy to make, is actually quite easy...
