Are all rabbits very fat at the mo? (this contains things rabbit owners may prefer not to read)

I bought a rabbit the other day, and upon jointing it for stew discover more fat than I generally find on a chicken. I was under the impression that rabbit was a very lean meat!

So, I paid £4 for a decent sized ferreted rabbit - which seemed good to me - but now I'm wondering if I have been diddled into eating someone's pet when I thought I was eating a farmer's pest!

Maybe said rabbit has been eating a fattening grain eg corn before it went to the Great Warren in the Sky?

Can you boil it and skim the fat off?

no it's all cooked now. It's delicious, by the way - I did it with vegetables and pearl barley!
