I find pandeing to kids only makes things worse.Cook what you want and invite them to join in.If they don't, thry go without.Has worked well for thousands of years.

MilaMae · 10/12/2008 17:52

Already do that, have never pandered-2 eat whatever and always have 1 doesn't and never has done.

Would like to at least try to find recipes that suit us all as he is now at school so going to bed having eaten nothing on a nightly basis is not preferable.

If he is hungry, he will eat.Believe you me.

moondog · 10/12/2008 17:53

But as cookery books go, you can't gop wrong with anything by Nigel Slater.

artichokes · 10/12/2008 17:54

My DD eats most of the stuff in Jamie Oliver's cookbooks and we love all his meals .

I know others rate Tana Ramsey but I have never looked in her book.

popmum · 10/12/2008 17:56

I think these books are v. good - bit repetitive - there is a specific kids ones - but generally i think they are good 'family' meals.

artichokes · 10/12/2008 17:58

this is my fav Jamie book

MilaMae · 10/12/2008 17:59

He is hungry and he doesn't eat, that strategy works with the other 2 not with him.

Any Jamie Oliver book in particular?

Jamie Oliver Ministry of Food one is my fav - I have actually cooked 4 meals from it so far in 2 weeks since I've had it.. We have all been a bit more adventurous as well. After this one I would recommend, Jamies Dinners, The Dinner Lady and Second Helpings. I have had dishes from these as well.

popmum · 10/12/2008 18:07

they are great!
I'd say also simple suppers, best ever chicken ones.
Also seen this one ""Good Food" The Family Meal Planner: Thrifty Recipes and 7-day Meal Plans to Help You Save Time and Money " which is not out til next year but looks fab!!

McDreamy · 10/12/2008 18:10

Moondog - is there a particular Nigel Slater you would rate?

BlueCowNowIsLowing · 10/12/2008 18:13

I love ALL Nigel Slater! Love his 'fast food' and fast puddings books (small paperbacks) as they are so ordinary, yet tick all the boxes for tasty, healthy, quick etc

McDreamy · 10/12/2008 18:15

Thank you - I will see if the library has a copy before I order it - I am a bit addicted to cookery books!!!!!

moondog · 10/12/2008 18:16

love every one of 'em

MilaMae · 10/12/2008 18:20

I have all Nigel Slater's,are there any particular recipes Moondog?

OP posts:
moondog · 10/12/2008 18:21

MilaMae · 10/12/2008 18:31

Go to WH Smith and get the Australian Womans Weekly cookbook. Its a staple in every Aussie household and its now rediced from 25 to 6 pounds. Heaps of easy and kiddie friendly recipes. It weighs a ton though

Milliways · 10/12/2008 19:31

I use This 30 minute cook book a lot.

overthemill · 10/12/2008 19:36

i like the 'kitchen revolution' but the recipes are not cheap - although altogether it does save money i think.

Another vote for Jamie Oliver Ministry of Food
