Can I heat a pyrex casserole dish on a gas hob (rapid answers needed)?

no-glass does not expand as rapidly as a flame will heat it. result-shattered glas or at least a split bowl.

no the heat of the flame is too rapid, if used in an oven put it in to heat up with the oven.

Hi, I can see this is a very old thread, but I viewed t because I had the same question.
I read the responses with interest, because it led me to wonder, how glass saucepans work without exploding… any ideas?
im asking because I love using glass saucepans, but because I find them quite pricey, I was looking at other vessels (nothing metal) in order to heat and or cook food.
