The best glace icing...?

Wanting to ice biscuits with a children's group on Saturday, but I always find Glace icing made just with icing sugar and water to be a bit drippy and messy. Any suggestions of how to make it a little more glaze-y and manageable?

My glace icing never seems to set very well but stays quite wet and therfore has the potential to go vey dribbly!! Would adding something like Glycerin firm it up just a little so as to make it more...well, firm, I guess...??! I would like it to set as the biscuits in question should be able to be hung from the Christmas tree - not good it too drippy!! Any suggestions gratefully received!

Use Royal icing mix instead (this stuff)

I use royal icing sugar, which has egg white added, and makes the icing more opaque. Don't mix with too much water so that it's fairly thick and doesn't take too long to dry. I think that glycerin would make it softer and not what you want for biscuits for a tree. I always find biscuits quite messy to ice though.

I make glace icing with lemon juice and make it quite thick because I pipe it on. It isn't at all messy. Just use less liquid/ more sugar.
