I need to put weight on and I am sure that a can of squirty cream (with brandy, mmm) is not the way to go about it

I have always been underweight and lose weight quickly when poorly so can sympathise.

I have started going to the gym (maybe not an option if you have been ill) and increasing my meals from 3 to 5 (smaller) a day with lots of pasta included and have put on nearly a stone in 6 months

cream on everything. advocado. its what we do for dd as she is very underweight.

Mrsmumofmonsters · 03/12/2008 15:36

real Butter instead of marg, whole milk, lots of small meals instead of a couple of large ones, squirty cream will be fiiine it's not as if its for every meal is it?(is it?!)

Pruners, did you see my M&S iced mince pie thread. 230 calories per pie.

2 of them plus squirty brandy cream and well that's at least 500 calories in one small yuletide snack.

There are raisins in mince pies and therefore they are healthy.

Sorry to hear you have been so poorly.

I know it sounds a bit odd but if you don't have the appetite for eating loads then a slim fast drink with all your meals should help .

They have enough calories for an extra small meal and they are full of vits . Probably not great long term but for a few weeks you should see a difference

Along the same lines as wilbury can you get the GP to prescribe those build up drinks?

The slim fast drinks are a lot nicer to stomach than complan and the like if you are tempted .

I cannot vouch for the co-op mince pies but I bet they do a luxury brand (luxury usually always means more calories). Anyway anything mince pie, with brandy cream on is better than no mince pie and squirting cream into you mouth.

I'd keep going with the drinks tbh, just a little sip on the hour and the half hour followed up by a mince pie.

The slim fast drinks are meal replacements and iirc a can is about 250calories. Compare and contrast with vomplan drinks.

Isn't strawberry (build up) flavour meant to be quite nice?

Too bloody right it is justified. Hell I would send dd2 (3) out to buy me mince pies if I thought she could be trusted to come back with them and not 30 packets of milky bar stars.

enjoy

travellingwilbury · 03/12/2008 19:56

The drinks have about 250 calories in so if you had 3 a day then you should see a bit of a difference without too much trouble

Good luck
