What foods are good to help stabilise blood sugar after a birthday tea?

Dd (2yo) went to a birthday party today and ate the requisite tonne of brightly coloured sugary crap. She will wake up in the next 20 minutes in an absolutely rancid temper. Is there anything I can usefully give her to eat or drink that might help her get back on an even keel?

Milk? Pasta? Lots of fluids?

(It's not a bit issue by the way, was just musing).

Water. Followed by a small bowl of unsweeetened porridge.

Oats eh? Is there anything they can't do?

Cheese is quite good I believe.

oatcakes with philly + marmite
carrot sticks, cheese cubes and unsalted cashews
apple + cheese
water and milk
pasta with a meat based sauce (if she seems really hungry)
egg fried rice with veg
bannana + cream cheese sandwiches on brown bed

btw all my ds friends have their birthday's around now so question is high up in my mind

low GI, is what you need.

so anything oaty -
breakfast cereals are good
good old carbs, so potatoes, pasta, rice,
most fruits and veg

easily sorted

mine get weetabix and milk and an early night. Tomorrow is another day.

Protein and unrefined carbs. If you can get them to eat protein with the sugary crap then that's better, though -- so in a party situation cheese, ham, sausages, nuts, umm... . Not sure how much difference it will make doing it now.

Would quibble on egg fried rice -- when I had gestational diabetes the merest sniff of rice would make my blood sugar peak like anything.

Thank you all for thoughts and advice. Dd decided to go in a different direction and threw up all over the sitting room instead.

Anyone know how to get dark stains out of a cream carpet?
