Are polish pierogi (dumplings) supposed to taste like raw dough when cooked?

I brought them to the boil from frozen then simmered them for 10-15 min as suggested on the packet, but they taste like raw dough, is that what they're supposed to taste like when fully cooked? I've never had them before. Thanks.

In fact, less like raw dough as sortof giant chewy ravioli.

Er no. I had them in Poland and they were lovely! Maybe they needed cooking a bit longer.....

Ah shit. I ate two and now I feel like I'm going to be sick.

Ok what were they supposed to taste like? Bready/cakey/pancakey?

They are meant to be a bit like ravioli - the outside is sort of pasta-like and the inside should taste like whatever is in it - I usually have potato and cheese ones or, at the right time of year, fruit-filled ones. I don't like them boiled though. I would boil them for a while they shallow-fry or bake 'em.

I love pierogi.

I had these inb Krakow and they were delicious. I came home and bought some frozen ones in the Polish shop, but they were completely disgusting. Best made fresh I think.
