I have a thin piece of lamb breast with hardly any meat on and fairly thin piece of shoulder. Does anyone have any ideas for recipes? or ways to get maximum meat from them?

I've slow cooked similar with lentils and Moroccan style spices and served with couscous. It worked out pretty well

Sounds good. It seems to have a layer of bone running through. Would I just chuck it in whole and then the meat could be taken off afterwards?

Yes - the bone gives it more taste.

you can stuff and roll breast of lamb - you need to bone it first then roll it up with the stuffing into a joint shape.

bone it??!!! I would know where to begin!! May just chuck it in and hope for the best

you just kind of scrape it off the bone with as much meat as possible still attached! But kitten's method sounds easier

Oh that's ok, I can do scraping! May try the roll with the breast then a morrocan casserole with the shoulder. Thanks guys

good ideas for breast of lamb on this thread here

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/food/631039-cheap-cuts-of-meat-educate-me

jamie oliver has a brilliant recipe for shoulder of lamb here

www.recipezaar.com/Incredible-Slow-Roasted-Shoulder-of-Lamb-277732

If we have Roast Lamb we always make this, its so easy to do and the meat just falls off the bone

spottyshoes · 22/11/2008 20:02

That is fantastic moonmother thankyou. I had forgotten about that cheap cuts thread, had been watching it ages ago for the beef ideas! That Other recipe sounds lush too.

Oooh what to cook first...

There is another good recipe in "Jamies Dinners" book that is for slow roasted shoulder of lamb - you roast it with lots of veg, tomatoes and red wine - I am giving it a go tomorrow.

Let me know if you want more info.
