Can Desiree potatoes be roasted?

Tesco have just delivered and instead of my usual Maris Piper they have given me Desiree. Got family over for a big roast beef lunch tomorrow, will these pots be ok?
Not clear on label, just mentions baking or mashing, which leads me to think no roasting

They're the pink ones, right? I think I've roasted them before. If they bake ok (ie. get fluffy in the middle), they should roast, I would guess... But don't take my word for it!

Tesco must have a glut of Desiree cause we got some delivered yesterday instead of white potatoes! Anyway they made lovely wedges so don't see why they wouldn't roast OK.

The British Potato Council say they're good for roasting, and who am I to disagree?

Blondeshavemorefun · 22/11/2008 17:02

dh swears these make the best, fluffiest roast potatoes

so

yes

all potatoes can be roasted i roast new potatoes in their skins, or in cubes with garlic and rosemary. afaik there's only really 2 types of spud - waxy and floury. if it says "new" or good for salads then they're waxy and if it says they mash/bake then they're floury and ideal for traditional roasties.
