i have NEVER heard that tiger bread is related to Chollah

BUT tiger bread is divine, divine, divine

SoupDragon · 21/11/2008 12:01

It's made with real tigers you know. You'll have the animal activists knocking on your door, mark my words.

ExtraFancy · 21/11/2008 12:02

I had a loaf of tiget bread delivered with my Sainsburys shop this morning...going to have it with lamb casserole tonight. Yum

ExtraFancy · 21/11/2008 12:02

Or even tiger bread

EyeballsintheSky · 21/11/2008 12:03

I have received the same e-mail - and looked at the tiger bread first, but at £2.69 I won't be buying it!

You can get tiger bread in Asda and Tescos for definite, and Sainsburys (I think). It is incredibly yummy and never lasts long in this house - mind you, with three growing boys, most food has a pretty short life expectancy here, apart from fruit, which languishes and dies in the fruitbowl - even though I buy the fruit they say they like!

TsarChasm · 21/11/2008 12:33

We get it in Asda. Does anyone know why it's called Tiger bread though. We've always wondered.

Ds suspected as much!

(Fairly sure it's much cheaper in Asda too)

SoupDragon · 21/11/2008 15:59

It may be because of the stripy crust but I suspect it is because of the tigers they use in making it.

I drove past a petrol station in Port Glasgow this evening, and noticed a Tiger Wash was one of the services offered.

Clearly Port Glasgow and Greenock must be hotbeds of tiger ownership, if this is worth catering for specifically.

I'd like to have a baby tiger as a pet, but my dh won't let me.........

I was more excited by the potato and rosemary bread - M&S used to do that and it was so nice. But I feel bad spending £3 on a loaf of bread. Does anyone know if you can make it in a breadmaker? Or a recipe to make it by hand?

sunnygirl1412 · 21/11/2008 22:52

I'd certainly enjoy having a go at making potato and rosemary bread too, Claire - it sounds completely delicious!

I googled it and found a recipe for potato and rosemary rolls - I guess if you make a loaf you just have to bake it for longer. There's another recipe using a breadmaker.

If you try either of these, can you tell me which is best?
