It's for beef and rice balls in chilli sauce and this is the sauce bits. It's onion red peppers chopped toms herbs and relish/chutney, I have some caramelised red onions, that's the nearest thing I could find. Can you suggest any alternatives?

Thanks.

i'd go with the onions, and a squirt of ketchup for good measure!

hf128219 · 20/11/2008 16:55

Well a tablespoon isn't exactly crucial.

I am marinading monkfish tails!

fillybuster · 20/11/2008 16:56

Definitely ketchup and onions. Could throw in some more chili/sweet chili dipping sauce as well, if you have any. Beef and rice balls sound nice - can you post the recipe?

I'd just leave it out probably or go with the ketchup.
Does it not make it clear which type as it's hard to know what to suggest

fillybuster · 20/11/2008 17:16

yum. feel quite inspired - have some fresh fish to cook tonight but think it might be rice/meat ball tomorrow or early next week...thanks :-)

grr it's a disaster so far, balls falling apart in pan. I'd make sure I chilled them first next time...

hmm. maybe not - report back if they are tasty!!

grouchyoscar · 20/11/2008 18:09

The red onions sound good and a good dash of lea and perrins TBH

MaryAnnSingleton · 20/11/2008 18:10

bit of apricot jam

grouchyoscar · 20/11/2008 18:11

If the rice balls fall apart don't worry. A tastier version of pot rice really...IYKWIM

DANCESwithLordPottingtonSmythe · 20/11/2008 18:53

Hee hee, we are having it all mixed together with crusty bread. DH has said he is happy to just 'imagine' he is eating beef and rice balls! Sure it will taste good

Oh that sounded like the bread was mixed in I meant the mince/ball mixture will be mixed with the chilli sauce stuff and then crusty bread on the side
