Wanted a way to carry 2 plates of hot dinner without spilling

I often send dinner home with mindees & I need a system to carry their plates of food

Sometimes I send a large pyrex dish (with a lid) with some dinner in

But sometimes it is 2 plates

Any idea of an easy way to do it?

Yep but I just put each plate in a separate layer - put the lid on & pop it into a bag

or a tiffin

These boxes you can fit in the whole hot lunch or dinner and keep hot aswell

SoupDragon · 20/11/2008 21:41

I don't understand why the dinner has to be on a plate.

Ham chips & beans is the only tea on a plate

Everything else is in a bowl

I should just take it off the menu

Wh do you send their tea home with them?

KatyMac · 20/11/2008 21:47

Because I was asked too - it's not a biggie

There's nothing wrong with ham chips and beans but I'm sure it could be boxed with the beans separately and then put on a plate at home. Especially given the trickiness in finding a plate carrier (although I do now have a hankering for a tiffin tin or a bento box...)

SoupDragon · 20/11/2008 21:52

You could put 3 plates in this wicker steamer

SoupDragon · 20/11/2008 21:53

(actually, it's only 2 as the 3rd tier appears to be just the lid )

KatyMac · 20/11/2008 21:53

I guess - it just looks so small in the bowl compared to the other meals - it's not very substantial looking

I'm in love with those tiffin tins

SoupDragon · 20/11/2008 21:56

There's this but you can't see what it's like inside. I would imagine you could dish up the ham meal into it in little separate compartments so that the beans don't make the chips soggy.

(I love a MN shopping challenge )

LargeGlassofRed · 20/11/2008 21:59

ooh how about this

Also if you look in a disabled aid shop they usually have plates with lids, but they can be pricey.

giddykipper · 20/11/2008 22:02

What about Quality Street tins? You can easily put a plate in a tin then stack the tins up in a bag.

LargeGlassofRed · 20/11/2008 22:02

Ooh love a shopping challenge too

DesperateHousewifeToo · 20/11/2008 22:20

Something like this?

With this?

KatyMac · 21/11/2008 22:02

Sorry everyone - I went to bed

& this is the first time I have been on today (what with work/powercuts/dd's birthday etc)

I am very sorry but the ideal solution hasn't turned up - so far I think the bamboo steamers are the best idea.......but I am willing to be convinced otherwise
