Aluminium bottles and health risks

I like the Sigg bottles for drinks but having nursed my mum through Alzheimer's I have read a lot about the possible links between aluminium levels and dementia. Nothing proven and might be to do with many things such as different bodies' abilities to process the metal etc - but since the jury is out on this and it is close to my heart I am nervous of using aluminium food equipment. Anyone know more about this?

I think the bottles are plastic inside - any info?

I thought they were lined in another metal or maybe it is my old ones....

Have you thought of contacting the manufacturer?

I think since the link has been suspected for a long time any recent bottles will be coated/lined to stop the food contacting the aluminium.

Before it was known about, you could get things like aluminium jam pans - boiling up acidic fruit in unlined aluminium, not a great idea...

True - have just done a bit of internet research -they are lined but if the lining is damaged they can leach aluminium. Gone off that idea. Have found stainless steel ones which are supposed to be safe.

Have read some statements by the manufacturer but not totally convinced.
