Hi all
I'm new to the site and having a look through the food section trying to come up with ideas for meals for my 11month dd when I noticed that a couple of people have mentioned Petit filous in a bad way - oops theres me thinking there OK and and as my dd loves them, giving them her happily - whats wrong with them?

while I'm here can I also ask any ideas on what to feed a 11month old I'm not the best cook in the world and tend to rely on jars rather to heavily - can you help

I have been giving ds3 (14m) Rachel's organic Greek yog for some time now. He sometimes has Rachel's/yeo valley etc yog or fromage frais but still loves the plain Greek. Try grating fresh apple into it, or one of your fruit jars if your dd likes them.

other foods: ds3 pretty much eats with my older 3 at teatime, but some quick lunches (just for him) are-
-French toast/eggy bread

  • a 1 egg omelette with or without some grated cheese stirred through. I cut it into strips and it's a great finger food if yr dd prefers that
  • couscous. Pour some boiling water over to swell grains, add some chopped cooked cubes of veg, stir in some olive oil or butter (they're less likely then to inhale a "dry" grain which can make them cough)
  • pasta - choose your sauce -or just with olive oil and a bit of cheese
  • a small fillet of lemon sole, brushed with a little melted butter and lemon juice placed on an oiled baking tray. Bake in oven for just a few minutes. None of these takes long and you get to control the sugar and salt levels

To plan ahead; homemade and salt free baked beans are really easy if you soak some dried cannellini or flageolet beans in lots of cold water the night before. Then simmer in fresh water until cooked. A pressure cooker is ideal if you have one. Once cooked, simmer again in a tomato based sauce, add herbs as preferred.

Thanks for the suggestions guys - actually I had a go at a cheese omlette yesterday - ended up more like scrambled mush god you would really think I could cope with something that simple!! anyway although it didn't look very appealling dd seemed to like it and ate quite a bit so will practise some more on that one (I blame the frying pan think its lost its none stickiness!!)

Like the sound of the lemon sole idea - something I would never have thought off, and I'm keen to give her more fish - so far its just been tuna so maybe i'll attempt that one
