OK, is it safe to a) freeze sliced meat and b) reheat fish pie?

When I buy sliced meat (ie ready packed stuff, need wafer thin for DS to eat) we don't ever manage to eat it all within the 48 hours recommended. Is it safe to freeze? Nothing on packaging to say either way.

Also with fish, can you reheat it? I know you can with meat (ie I've made shepherd's pie, frozen it, then reheated for another meal) but have no idea whether you can do the same with fish pie.

Anyone know the answer?

Yes (and sliced meat will last a lot longer than 2 days anyway)

fish pie fine as long as the fish has been cooked before freezing (many fish counters sell fish that has been previously frozen).

The only thing I'd say about sliced meat is the texture might go a bit odd. I think it should be alright as unlikely to be frozen previously.

Ready cooked sliced ham does not freeze well due to its high salt and water content. You can, however, freeze it in sandwiches.

Great - thanks for the answers!

Oh, frozen sandwiches. Never heard of that - do they not taste odd/go crispy when thawing?

Yes with the fish pie as long as you cooked the fish after froozen bit.

use a themometer to make sure it is hot enough in the middle of the pie. If no temperature gauge then make sure it is bubbling a little around the edge when you pull it out of the oven.

i freeze fish cakes and re-heat them so would assume fish pie is ok too
