QUICK help please! Making Chicken & Veg broth - it's a bit bland - what is best to add?

Do I just add more salt & pepper?

Would Worcester sauce kill it? (Don't think it would enhance chicken)

It has a bouquet garni in it, plus onion, veg, soup mix (lentils, pearl barley etc) some potato. The stock was made with mixed herbs added.

Don't want it to be a disaster - economy cooking test going on chez Milliways until DH gets a new job.

Even have homemade bread ready!

There was me gloating in home made stock.......

Celery never makes it in here - none of my lot eat it (I don't like it either), but Thanks anyway.

just for future ref - celery diced up really finely gives a really good base flavour to soups and stews but it doesn't taste or feel or look like "celery". (i.e. if nobody told you it was in there you wouldn't know, but it really gives depth of flavour). I always chop up a stick and chuck it in with the onion and garlic at the beginning of cooking.

glad it helped, there's salt in the stock cube so that helps it too.

Next time I will try a sieved/blended soup rather than a thinner broth with chunks for a thicker consistency (although I love Pearl Barley etc in broths)
