What would you cook for a 1967 themed dinner party?

My friend is doing a murder mystery evening set in 1967, the recommended food is lentil soup, chicken and new pots, angel delight. She;s not keen on those so can anyone suggest anything else that woudl have been popular then for dinner parties - we thought prawn cocktail and black forest gateau, but is this more 70's?

Aargh Cremolafoam, the university where I work has a carvery like that where we are supposed to take important visitors, scoops of mash and boiled cabbage and all. The decor is awful too. It's like stepping back in time.
