IYKWIM

ie do I add the cooking times together
or do I just cook for as long as one piece would take?

I'm sure I used to know this

As long as one piece. The cooking time is based on how long it will take for the centre of the meat to be cooked.

If you imagine cooking each piece in a separate oven, it becomes clearer. IYSWIM.

thanks!
It's microwaves where the total amount counts isn't it?

Yes - with microwaves you have to increase the time according to the total weight, even if the food is in separate pieces.

I have never been keen on cooking large pieces of meat in the microwave though. I tend to use it for reheating meals.

oh no I have never cooked meat in the microwave!
