When you cook a stew in slow cooker, do you coat the meat in flour?

I do, and I use a lot more flour than usual so that it thickens well as slow cookers seem to produce more watery results

I have a great slow cooker which is essentially a proper saucepan and a hotplate so I prepare it all on the stove as if it were going into the oven and then just put on the hotplate

It works with or without flour, but without flour then of course it doesn't thicken.

If NOT using flour, there is no need to seal the meat first, but do give it plenty of time to cook thru.
