That all sounds lovely
I would put the pots in about 20 mins before you are expecting anybody then by the time everyone is ready to eat they should be perfect .
If you are doing the chilli in the slow cooker could it not be left in there on low ? I don't do slow cooking any more so I could be wrong about that .

Other than that maybe some crusty bread .

I would leave all the dips out on the side as it will probably be cold so won't get warm and horrid

Most slow cookers look pretty insulated anyway, if you left it with the lid on then people could just scoop some out and it would stay warm for quite a while I think. You want it at eating temperature anyway, not boiling hot.

What are the baked beans for ?
You could always put them in an oven proof dish and leave them in the oven with pots and then just leave them on the side when the pots are ready

I'd do some sausages too

I agree with Mercy. We are having a small firework thingy for DD's birthday and are doing jackets and hot dogs.

Mercy · 05/11/2008 16:41

Sorry!!

I was just thinking about children tbh.

Either really. I prefer proper sausages in hot dog rolls but I know my children are rather fond of frankfurters. I just think that chilli/spuds might be a bit hard for children to handle, especially if they have cold fingers, I'm assuming everyone won't be seated?

I'll shove the sausages in the oven when people get here, and have the jackets spuds already cooking in tin foil, rolls already buttered then just sevre it up as it's cooked.

IME, fireworks parties never really need to go OTT with the food as everyone just wants something warm and are eating either standing around the kitchen or in the garden.
