Spiced fruit bread recipe, please!

I've had a go at baking my own bread (yes, I am becoming my mother, even down to the gingham apron) with varied results. Delia's recipe for white bread and brown bread turned out fine - and was eaten by the kids - result!!! - but an improvised attempt at spiced fruit bread was a disaster. More of a fruit brick actually, but it's been great as a door stop.

Has anybody got a good recipe for spiced/cinnamon fruit bread? The only proviso is that it cannot contain egg since my son is allergic to it (although any recipe that just needs egg to glaze top could be easily adapted).

I make normal bread (Nigella, usually) and:

After the first rising, roll it into a rectangle
In a bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon
Spread this over the rectangle of dough (Sometimes nice to put melted butter on first)
The sprinkle on raisins
Roll up
Leave to rise again
Bake

or I just chuck dried fruit and spices in and it works fine.

This is the kind of thing I do, but with Nigella's bread recipe. Can't get to book atm but bet you can google. I often add raisins. I sometimes freeze them before the second rising then take out as many as I need either the night before and leave in the fridge til the morning or put the in the oven straight from the freezer.
