what shall I cook for my fussy eating MIL?

outlaws coming for the weekend. am doing roast lamb for Sunday dinner but am out of ideas for Saturday evening. She doesn't eat onions, peppers, leeks, garlic, anything spicy or wheat (except, oddly, cakes, puddings and biscuits which are apparently magically wheat free!!!)
would like to make something that can cook itself in the oven while we put the children to bed. Was thinking casseroles but can't see how I can make one taste nice without onion or garlic. Usually I do salmon fillets, jacket potatoes type food but that's so dull. Ideas please...

sausages contain wheat

Pork loin wrapped in bacon stuffed with mushrooms and apples? this is my parents/in laws failsafe as it is sufficiently traditional to cater to their tastes.

I slice pork tenderloin down the middle, stuff with already sweated muchrooms and apples, close and wrap in bacon and cook in a low oven. nice with dauphinois potatoes (or my cheats version anyway!)

Don't do anything that takes too much time/effort. You will only feel worse if she makes horrid comments.
Time for a take away?

I'm in the same boat with my FIL. No onions, garlic, leeks, spices (except black pepper), fish, pasta, pizza, rice, peas, swede, parsnip (or indeed any vegetables except potatoes, broccoli and raw carrots), all meat must be lean (e.g. chicken breast only) etc etc. I accept a limited diet for the duration of a visit - we eat roast meat, canned tomato soup, bread and cheese. Those who are bored munch through the condiment store. It's better than getting the endless comments about poisoning him. Casserole, no onions, sounds perfect. You can add Lea and Perrins to your portion at the table. Unsatisfactory, but better than a fight.

I sympathise - it's so depressing and stressful.

Your MIL sounds like my SIL, she won't eat onions, tomatoes, wheat, diary whole host of items but cooking for her isn;t a bit issue!!! Just chill, bigger things to worry about!!! Mishymoo's idea was perfect - chicken breast wrapped in parma or black ham, boiled new potatoes & a crisp green salad. Easy to prepare in no time. If you still crave for your garlic, you can then lightly crush the potatoes with some garlic infused olive oil & black pepper and can beef up your salad with a variety of salad dressings, few black olives and some feta cheese chucked in. You can even purchase some wheat free bread from your nearest supermarket showing a bit of effort to your MIL. Done in 30 minutes and everyone is happy!!! Relax!!

You can get wheat free pasta. Maybe a pasta bake? tomato sauce and bacon and chuck a ton of cheese over? with salad or roast veg?

spag bol with wheat free pasta? (my friend is wheat free and i often have wheet free spag with ehr and it tastes just the same)

you could omit onion and garlic and use leek / celery / carrot courgette (I often stick those in bolognese)

I think that would fit all her criteria

or else make a meal and she can eat it or starve just like he children which i have to say is what i would do and what happens to my step dad who also onyl eats 'kids crap'.... he wont eat onions in any form, ie bolognese / curry etc, but doesnt eat veg either so for sunday roast he has his with battered onion rings FFS

Gruel?

Ok silly suggestion but really. . . cook what you would normally have and she will just have to live with it.

I am afraid I have a dim opinion of anyone who commands food of a certain type in visiting anyones house!

The cheek!

lol at sunday roast with battered onion rings! Mind you she's a breeze compared with my father and stepmother who between them didn't eat: vegetables, salad, wheat, fish, eggs, dairy. At the time they visited I was a veggie too. I had to cook 2 or 3 meals per mealtime grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
