What's worth buying organic.....?

Trying to cut back atm and I was wondering what folks think is worth sticking to organic and what doesn't really matter.....

I have recently changed to non-organic bananas as the kids get through so many and the organic ones cost loads more....

I stick to organic milk for the kids (I get value for my tea) as I read somewhere it's higher in certain vitamins....

What do you think? Are you cutting back on organic foods?

I tend to go for things that grow in the ground - ie. carrots and potatoes. Always organic milk too. Don't bother with apples cos my two like them peeled anyway!

And although more pricy, always try and go for the best meat too.

what do you think about bananas....do you think it matters as you peel them anyhows?

I always choose organic milk - mainly because I know the farmers really get more money per pint .

I've always thought organic bananas a waste of time TBH. But someone else may know different!!

we buy organic milk, eggs and chicken
we have largely cut back on organic fruit and veg but trying to buy local as far as poss and these two agendas clash a bit.

Stuff with peel you don't eat, eg bananas, avocados, nuts, I don't bother with. Also I'm not fussed about meat being organic, particularly - care more that it's free range/welfare etc.

I do like to get organic leafy stuff - lettuce, spinach, also salad things like peppers, tomatoes and cucumber; apples, potatoes and carrots etc. Also get organic milk and yoghurt though not cheese, but that's a bit random.

Cucumber is one thing that always actually tastes better organic - loads better.

all dairy definitely, and tbh I woudl stick with organic bananas as the amount of pesticide they spray on the non-organic ones is amazing! Root veg and things you don't peel, and fatty things as the pesticides are fat-soluble and will be in higher concentrations in the fatty foods.

There was some research recently that said that the only food that you really get a big health benefit from organic is milk.

I think the best thing to do is buy local in season produce and meal plan around that.

My mum told me that in the summer, vitamin-wise, there isn't much difference between organic and normal milk as they are mainly out grazing whether organic or not. In the winter though the organic milk is better as the cows get a better and natural diet over winter.
