Why are all my slow cooker stews so greasy?

I take off all the fat I can see but I know slow cookers can't burn off the fat as happens if you put the stews in the oven. I'm really disappointed, I don't like greasy food and nor does my DH. Most cheap cuts of meat are a bit fatty so it seems a bit pointless to use the slow cooker for expensive cuts. Am I doing something wrong?

I find that lamb shanks end up in a greasy type gravy. but other than that say stews or curry seem fine. i use lamb neck fillet for lamb and stewing beef both from the butchers. Don't tend to bother with chicken as I find it bland.

wHAT cuts do you use?

I tend to drain teh meat onto a plate covered in kitchen towel, then empty the pan of any fat, then add it to the slow cooker.
I mean I brown the meat in a pan first, and thats when I drain the fat off

Kitchen towel trick seems a good idea after browning will try that on sunday. Used both lamb neck fillet and stewing beef but both ended up greasy.
