My daughter is nearly a year old and I am concerned about moving on to adult foods. When is it safe to give kids tinned beans and spaghetti and soups.I have noticed that they have all got salt and loads of preservatives in them.Is it something I should worry about at a year old?
How strict should you be with additives in there food and to what age?I need some alternative recipes and ideas if all else fails. Can you help???

DS has been eating apples, peaches, cucumber, (banana if I let him) and potatoes (and more actually) with skin since he was one. The best in vegetables and fruits is usually close to the skin - hence it is good for them (they grow from the core towards the exterior).
Annable Karmel says that it is better to eat non-organic vegetable and fruits properly skinned and washed than no veg at all (I agree to a certain extent) but if you can afford it.... buy organic or local or from small growers (wash) and eat the skin !

Oops, I read the jar last night, and Marmite does have salt in it. However, I think that so long as it is spread very thinly, and not all that you exclusively feed them on I'm sure it will be fine. My son was anyway.
