Would it be terrible to give 19mo Nesquik (non-Nestle equivalent, obv!)?

I am trying to wean him off his bedtime BF as I am pg and have very sore nipples. So far he has completely turned his nose up at cows' milk (have tried it cold and warm).

He LOVES strawberry-flavoured Mini Milk, yoghurt, fromage frais etc so I'm wondering if it would be such a terrible thing to try putting a bit of strawberry Nesquik in his bedtime milk. He would have his teeth brushed afterwards. And he only drinks water all day, no squash or juice.

no i don't think it's such a terrible thing - only because we did this too! it did work, in the fact that ds1 did drink lots more milk, so the tradeoff (more milk, less healthy) was worth it. it has quite expectedly left him with a penchant for flavoured milk, so now in a full beaker he has the tiny tip of a teaspoon of milkskake mix in it and it still works. although tbh, lately we 'make the pink milk' (as he calls it) out of his sight and don't bother to flavour it, and he doesn't notice the difference.

so yes it did work during his milk-reluctant phase. i say do what you need to do to get through a particular phase and don't stress over the wrongs and rights too much (but maybe i'm too laidback

I am debating whetehr to try this for DD2....but she is 12 months, and not for bedtime, just to get her to drink something other than water during the day as when I go to work she refuses everything, EBM, cows milk, the lot, for 10 hours!

But I do let DD1 (2.8) have some warm chocolate milk before bed, it's a teeny amount I put in but she drinks it so I figure as snooks, more milk = good thing, surely

coward!

It would be fine. If you prefer, Crusha do a no-added-sugar strawberry milk mix - my two DS's have that at night and love it and it is a better taste than Nesquik.

My lo (20mo) has chocolate milk, warmed up, at bed time. Nothing wring with doing something to make life that bit easier for yourself IMO

Up to you - needs must, and all that.
I wouldn't give anything with sweeteners in though.

Thanks all

I shan't feel like a terrible mother for trying a bit of pink milk then.

Will have a look at the Crusha stuff although I wouldn't give him anything with sweeteners in -- I'd rather he had a bit of old-fashioned sugar.

I suppose if all else fails I could give him a Mini Milk at bedtime
