The food colour i need to use is nearly a year out of date. Is it ok to use?
(Some went out in 2000! Keeping those for play dough!)

Use it on a kids birthday cake first.... if they don't start gasping for breath or vomitting violently then it is OK to use

have used mine 2 years out of date - was fine You use so little of it anyway.

It is for DS2's cake!
There is to be no vomit in this house!

I would use it if it smells ok and would probably taste a tiny bit to make sure it's not more rank than the usual food colouring taste/smell.

My Mum had the same bottle of cochineal for most of the time I lived at home for the rare occasion she made pink fairy cakes. Seriously.

I found packet soup from 1974 - it didn't have a use by date, they hadn't been invented back then Gpo on use it

My children regularly have a giggle at spices and other dried ingredients I have which pre-date them (born in 1996 and 1997!) We have never checked the food colouring dates but I don't remember buying them more than once.

Well i have used it! Can avoid eating that part of the cake if need be!
