dust the sugarpaste with icing sugar, and dip the cutter in icing sugar before cutting each letter - Hope this helps

i haven't seen them, but am inferring from your description..

they need to be lubricated and the stuff you are cutting must be fairly stiff, so put the sugarpaste in teh fridge and rub a bit of bland oil on the cutters.

not just plain icing, is it stickier?

oh yes better shoofly, but maybe oil and icing sugar. certainly oil + flour works best of all for getting bread out of my very stick-making tin.

You really need to use petal paste rather than fondant icing, or else mix the fondant with a little gum tragacanth (sp!). This will make it less sticky, but petal paste is best for letters and numbers. Use corn flour as this helps to stop it sticking.

I doubt you will have any success with standard icing. Petal paste, as well as being less sticky is stronger so the letters don't break as easily. You will only need a little for the letters, but any left over can be frozen. Good luck.
