I'd like to give it a good go.

Is there a Delia, Nigella, et al recipe you swear by?

Many thanks!!

We are a textbook traditional lot so it has to be xmas pudding. I really like it actually, love sticky toffee too....

Another vote for Delia. Her's is fab (although I tweak it a bit as I find that she puts in too much citrus in her Christmas recipes!). The main thing is to soak the dried fruit overnight before you even think about making the pud.

DisasterArea · 05/10/2008 17:34

yes less citrus and a few extra nuts. like mine nutty. also substitue barley wine as i'm not sure what that is and rum because we never have any. throw in an extra slug of brandy or marsala or whatever is in the booze cupboard.

do you put charms or sixpences in?

purits · 05/10/2008 17:50

I cheat. I don't put 'sixpences' actually in the pudding itself. I just surreptitiously slide them under the servings on the plate. When the DC were small they never realised and now they are big they don't care (they just go along with the pretence to amuse mum). I do a variety of 50p / one pound / two pound coins to make it exciting. >
