Are there any lovely recipes to recommend, or shall i just bung a load of stuff in at random and see what happens?

well the instructions told me to put it on auto and it would be ready in 6-7 hours

so i put it on at 11, but by 6 it wasnt anywhere near ready

i put it on high for the next 2 hours then it was BLOODY DELICIOUS

putting everything in one big pot, turning it on in the morning, to find it has slowly cooked all day and is ready when you come home int he evening

Waswondering - I do gammon joints in mine, but I don't cover it in water. I just put about a cupful in. The water just keeps recirculating. I never cook gammon any other way now - it's brill.

Also do puddings in it.
Rice Pudding is ace
Steamed sponge puddings are great (no topping up of water)
Mmmmmmmmm.........puddings

I have recently bought some shin of beef and bunged in first, the veg. Turnips, carrots, onions, swede, leeks and put the browned meat on top. Cover and add stock cubes or home made stock if you are totally organised.

Put on low for about 10 hours.

You will need to add dumplings of course, do this about 40 mins before you are serving (for every mug of flour add half a mug of suet and a pinch of salt, bit of water and make Dumplings), then turn it up to high.

Puddings..........

Rice pudding - put 2/3 oz of pudding rice directly in crockpot. Add 1.5 pints milk and a couple of ounces of sugar.
Put on low for about 6 hours, but if you can, give it a stir once or twice during cooking. After the last stir, grate some nutmeg over. (I have to watch myself here, because I love nutmeg, but too much apparently causes you to hallucinate!!!!)

Steamed sponge pudding - follow any recipe for a steamed sponge (like treacle pudding). Put the mixture in a bowl that will fit into the crockpot. Tie greaseproof paper/foil over the top. Put an old jamjar lid in the bottom of crockpot (to act as a trivet), put bowl on top, pour in some boiling water to come about halfway up the inner bowl. Cook on high for about 3-4 hours. You will not have to top it up with water.

Also if you put the spuds in a separate bowl with lid cut up into small pieces, then put that bowl into the stew, they will cook and be ready to eat/mash/fry whatever.

Curry - brown the meat first. Do your veg as you normally would and add the curry spices.
Bung it all in the slow cooker.
Cook on low for 3-4 hours.
About 30 mins before the end, make up a cornflour paste (with 1 tbsp cornflour) and a little water. Add to the slowcooker and stir. Put lid back on and leave to thicken.
