Oi! Over here to help me settle petty marital squabble over which yoghurt is best for DC's

We are fighting over the merits of Noddy's organic, vs Muller Little Stars.

I'm interested in a comparison of sugar, general additive nasties, and organic points.

In case you are wondering, we currently don't have any in our house to do the comparison. Hence the argument about which ones to buy (I know, you are very jealous about how scintillating life is chez sycamores).

I'm not gonna say which side I'm on to avoid any pro/neg MN sisterhood bias.

If I win, he has to go and get me chips. If I lose, I have to go and get him curry and beer.

Natural yoghurt, mashed banana to sweeten, plus random other fruit. Everybody wins!

sweetkitty · 25/09/2008 20:42

Would need an ingredient list of both.

We have Rachels, its only fruit puree and yoghurt

scoobi6 · 25/09/2008 20:42

I'd buy the cheapest

beautifuldays · 25/09/2008 20:43

dunno but rachaels organic is the only kids yog with not added sugar

Snaf · 25/09/2008 20:44

Well, you know you'll get 50 posts saying make your own yoghurt and pick your own raspberries to go in it, don't you?

Ds likes the Muller ones, if that's any help. They are pretty much crap-free, imo.

Slouchy · 25/09/2008 20:44

Lidl greek yoghurt. huge tub, disgracefully cheap, delicious and no nasties. Everyone's a winner.

thisisyesterday · 25/09/2008 20:48

i would go with noddy because it's organic. other than that there isn't much in it iirc.

personally we go for sainsburys own kids yogs because they have no sugar and are organic

hecate · 25/09/2008 20:48

muller little stars
Fromage Frais, Fromage Frais, Water, Water, Sugar, Sugar, Strawberry Purée (5%), Strawberry Purée (5%), Corn Flour, Corn Flour, Natural Flavourings, Natural Flavourings, Beetroot Juice Concentrate, Beetroot Juice Concentrate

Noddys organic
Organic Wholemilk Yogurt (88%), Organic Sugar, Organic Strawberry Purée (5%), Organic Tapioca Starch, Organic Lemon Juice, Natural Flavouring

hecate · 25/09/2008 20:49

crikey, wonder why that happened with the muller one?

EachPeachPearMum · 25/09/2008 20:52

neither have much fruit in them tbh.
We get rachels ones, or more usually plain yoghurt and add fruit.

AnarchyAunt · 25/09/2008 20:53

Muller ones are not yoghurt. They are fromage frais, and I think out of the two the Noddy ones (which are yoghurt) are better.

Sycamoretree · 25/09/2008 20:57

Aha, I think I am going to win by default.

I have always bought Rachel's and Noddy's. A pack of both because of once watching house of tiny tearaways and getting paranoid DD would only eat character yoghurts unless I switched them around.

DH has started buying muller little stars. To me, they just look more processed in the pot.

Each peach, do you have the ingredients per chance for Rachel's? OR Hectate, do you have some great internet source of nutritional information?

OP posts:
Snaf · 25/09/2008 20:57

Ackshewerly, Muller do yoghurt and fromage frais (and jelly).

Can't you just make your own? Then no possibility of nasties

Sycamoretree · 25/09/2008 21:00

Well, er, I COULD, but I'm not going to. I have enough of a job working FT and cooking up endless vats of fish pie and risotto, not to mention the fruit puree DS has in his porridge every morning. To start assembling a yoghurt from scratch is just a little more than I could possibly face right now..so sue me

OP posts:
thisisyesterday · 25/09/2008 21:00

should be here but it won't work for me.

ingredients for rachels that is

Sycamoretree · 25/09/2008 21:01

Yes, the link takes you to the pic, but the FILE IS NOT FOUND!!! for nutritional info. Thanks though.

EachPeachPearMum · 25/09/2008 21:01

We only have plain in at the moment, sorry!
I only get individuals when we have to go somewhere for lunch- huge (1l) pots of plain are much more erm economical

Snaf · 25/09/2008 21:02

You're just not trying hard enough, sycamore

NotAnOtter · 25/09/2008 21:02

greek does not even need sweetening

EachPeachPearMum · 25/09/2008 21:02

all the info you'd ever want here
HTH

thisisyesterday · 25/09/2008 21:03

hmm this is interesting.

have you noticed how rachels now do "first yoghurts" and "taste explorers" for older ones?

well, if you look at the taste explorers ones on the site it doesn't have an ingredients list anywhere, and in the bumf alongside it it doesn't say that there is no added sugar,

their taste explorers yoghurt smoothies DO have added sugar, which is unlike them isn';t it?>

SO, I reckon that the "first yoghurts" have no sugar, but the taste explorers oens might have some in.

there is also those mums4 and little dish yoghurts which have no added sugart.

but sainsburys still win for cheapness lol

thisisyesterday · 25/09/2008 21:04

little dish

Sycamoretree · 25/09/2008 21:04

I know snarf -

OP posts:
Sycamoretree · 25/09/2008 21:07

Hmm, thanks Each Peach and yesterday, Confess to having graduated to the taste explorers in shameless succumbing to marketing ploy by Rachel's. Shall be returning to first yogs!

slouchy I'm with you: that Lidl youghurt is brilliant! £1.85 and a useful toy bucket when it's finished! Why why why would you buy ANYTHING else?
