Sunday roast. Usually cooked by DH while the DSs and I are at church. I can't believe we've turned out so traditional. It's certainly not what I would have predicted for myself 20 years ago.

OrmIrian · 18/09/2008 12:19

Roast or slow-cooked joints. Or casseroles. Or pasta with a tomatoey sauce. Everyone eats them. Otherwise I end up doing several different variations on a meal

castille · 18/09/2008 12:19

We all love fajitas - very sociable, fun to put together and yummy.

Overmydeadbody · 18/09/2008 12:20

Roast

Goulash

In fact, any meal that involves my whole immediate family, as if everyone makes it there are 11 of us and it's always really chaotic but fun

bozza · 18/09/2008 12:21

Sunday roast or sausage amd mash.

Overmydeadbody · 18/09/2008 12:24

sushi followed by stir fry and noodles when it's just DS and I, as we have great fun making the sushi, even more fun eating it all with chopsticks which DS is still learning how to use, and he always tries a bit of wasabi and then turns red!

claireybee · 18/09/2008 12:32

Roast probably, mainly because contrary to popular belief it is one of the easiest things to cook-just bung it in the oven. Otherwise some kind of stew and rice. Or a barbeque.

MKG · 18/09/2008 12:34

Eggplant parmesean because it's my favorite thing to make, and eat. It's also fun to watch the kids eat spaghetti.

chinese defo my favourite.

Big bowls of freshly made prawn crackers and fried rice. Homemade chicken and pork balls and a dish of sweet and sour sauce, or lions head meatballs, or chicken in black bean sauce. Then normally a spicier dish, maybe prawns.

The kids love the sort of meals that involve big bowls on the table which they can help themselves from.

We do indian too, just add lots of yoghurt to tone down the spices for little ones.
Morroccan chicken is nice too, with spiced yoghurt and morrocan style rice.

We did do a traditional roast last weekend. It took me all day though, cos Im out of practice. Not sure how it is 'easy'!

ChopsTheDuck · 18/09/2008 12:48

mkg, how do you make that? SOunds intriguing.

Megglevache · 18/09/2008 12:49

fish pie as all the family like it and it's the only thing that my dd will attempt (in terms of a hot dinner)

So stress free and delish too.

notnowbernard · 18/09/2008 12:51

Roast dinner

Completely clean plates guaranteed

DrHorrible · 18/09/2008 12:52

fry up

DaphneMoon · 18/09/2008 12:56

Beef stew with scones (which are similar to dumplings but not made with suet and are much nicer). Served with fluffy mashed pots and vegetables.

Or roast dinner, you can't beat a nice roast pot and yorkie pudding. Plus I love Christmas dinner too and could eat it every day.

MKG · 18/09/2008 16:14

Chops-- peel eggplant cut it however thick you like, dip in egg and bread crubs, fry until bread crumbs are brown, put them on a plate with some paper towels to soak up the grease, then put them all in a baking dish, cover with marinara sauce and mozzerella cheese and bake for 30 minutes. Get some pasta going on the side, and it's the perfect meal.

largeginandtonic · 18/09/2008 16:20

Mine love the things they can put together themselves too. Fajitas and tacos top of the list. They all love spag bol but i cannot bear to watch them eat it! Oh the mess and the slurping and the mess and the chomping, nooooooooo.

Pizza with salad and extras always goes down well, especially if they have put the toppings on themselves.

annaje · 18/09/2008 16:20

Roast is one of the only things that everyone likes. Or a trip to Wagamama where we all have big plates of Yaki Soba - the best I've tried yet, and definately DH and DS1's favourite.

I also love Tapas - making it tonight in fact

MKG · 18/09/2008 16:22

LG&T--the slurping mess is the best part. I always get my camera out on spaghetti nights.
