slow cooker and joint of lamb?

I was given a slow cooker by a relative ages ago and it just sits in my kitchen. I have not got a clue how to use it. Anyhow just brought a joint of lamb for tonight and was wondering can I put it in the slow cooker, if so what do I do and how long?
Thanks

Id brown it first, and then stick it in at about 130c if possible with water, herbs/spices and veg, then if it is a big joint it could take up to 12 hours. I do a similar thing in the oven.

with my lamb joint I add:

salt, pepper
root veg
celery
1/2 bulb of garlic
1/4 cup of olive oil
tbsp thyme
couple sprigs of rosemary
tbsp parsley
tsp fennel seeds
tsp coriander seeds
tsp peppercorns
2 bay leaves
1/2 bottle of white wine
pint stock

I do smaller cuts, brown and cook it for about 6 hours, basting it over every hour or so.

I'd put wine as well as water and plenty of veg, in chunks

I started a thread on this last week and used one of the recipes with very good results! Will try to link to it.

It will be delicious! I love my slow cooker. Brisket of beef is good too and relatively cheap.
