Recipe websites

I'm sitting here trying to make a shopping list and I found myself wondering if people have found any good websites for simple/quick family recipes?

I thought I'd share the two I've discovered recently that I've found useful (fortunately both British sites so all the measurements are in the right type!) and wondered if others could post their favourite sites. Let's see if I can get these link things to work

The first is The Campbell's Soup Site - when I did a course on student cookery in Sixth Form we did loads of things that included condensed soup somewhere, so I was really chuffed to find this site! Not much more faffing than buying a cook-in sauce but much cheaper and you add your own fresh ingredients obviously. You can search by various categories such as vegetarian, pasta, budget, etc. Very good when you want to try something new but don't want to spend hours preparing.

The second is Best British Food - I stumbled on this last night while looking for a gingerbread man recipe (sad I know, but I've packed up all my cookbooks in anticipation of actually selling the house at some point!). It's got a really good selection of basic everyday food that can be prepared quickly with all the old favourites. Even better, there's a cocktail section too Again, very sensibly laid out into straight-forward categories and you can also search by ingredient if you want to use something up you've got in the cupboard.

Anyone else found any gems?

I find Recipezaar quite useful as you can search by ingredients. It is American though, so you need to know how to convert or be able to guess. Dp made amazing chewy white chocolate chip cookies from a recipe here.

I also quite like BBC Food as you can search by BBC chef.

Sainsbury's have one, which is quite good. I have used several recipies from it with success.

Found another nice site but haven't looked too closely at it yet: The Foody Homepage . Again, recipes seem reasonably sensibly organised - it's a UK & Ireland online magazine. They look a bit "fancy" some of the recipes but the snack section claims to be quick and easy

Try allrecipes.com. Sorry can't do links! They're american, but you can convert any recipe to feed 1-100 people, and change the lot into metric too!
Check out their Marbella Chicken recipe - brilliant!
Thanks for posting the other sites - I'm looking forwardto a good browse (surf!) soon.

recipefinder.ninemsn.com.au/recipefinder/default.asp

This site allows you to search as well as suggesting new ideas. I love it as I get my aussie favourites like Mars Bar Slice!!

very easy to use.

sorry can't do links yet!

A great, simple site is www.cookingbynumbers.com.

Put a tick against the foods you have in your fridge/cupboard and it brings up recipes for you!

Ticking baked beans + bread = beans on toast - well, bless me I've been racking my brains for years trying to figure out that combination!

I went on the Campbells Soup site and found a fruit cake made with tomato soup. It sounds just too intriguing not to make. Its amazing what you can do with a can of soup.

GeorginaA · 19/02/2003 20:00

I have to say I thought the cake looked a bit dubious, but do tell us whether it's nice in reality

Eidsvold, I've just had a look at that site and cannot find the recipe for the Mars Bar Slice, could you please let me know more about it please.
