just out of interest, what do you have with your gammon when you have it? (if you have it?)

It's going on next weeks shopping list & I wondered if I was missing out on any interesting combinations or things to try with it.

Cheers

Roast potatoes/boiled potatoes with oilve oil, marrowfat peas & a slice of pineapple.

I do mine in cola. Just cover with coke. And I bring it to boil and then cook for 1hr - 1hr30mins. Then roasted in oven for 20 mins with honey on top.

That's for a joint obv.

I vote for baked pots, cauliflower cheese and peas or chips, pineapple rings and baked beans.

TheArmadillo, is that a gammon joint rather than the 'rounds' that you can get?

I was just going to get a couple of those for myself and oh as lo not keen on bacon/gammon

Do you mean gammon steak or gammon ham?
We have carrot & onion cooked in the stock with mash, dumplings, pearl barley and pease pudding.
Never eat gammon steak as cant afford proper one and dislike the chopped and formed stuff.

it'll be steaks from the market MERLYPUSS as we'll have quite a bit of cash next week for a change so treating us. Other than that, I'm not sure whether the ones I get from asda would be called proper steaks now you ask. I suppose they're probably the chopped & formed type although I haven't ever studied them so closely, or their packaging tbh

Yes the gammon joint is done in coke, rather than slices.

It's a Christmas favourite. You'll no doubt see numerous questions re Nigella's ham in coke in the next xouple of months!

I'm going to try that one Sunday rather than a roast I think, sounds interesting

gammon joint with cumberland sauce (redcurrant jelly, orange juice and zest and a bit of port, simmered), new pots, carrots and peas
